For those non-New Zealanders amongest my readers, you may or may not have heard about the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck yesterday at 12.51pm. 6 months ago Christchurch suffered a 7.1 earthquake at 4am on Sunday morning. Remarkably no one was killed. This earthquake was completely out of the blue - until then no one knew there was actually a fault line under Christchurch. Unfortunetly this earthquake was much shallower, directly under the city and in the middle of a busy weekday lunchtime period.
We were travelling up the country to Te Awamutu - for Lee & Morgans' wedding on Satuday. We've had the news on ever since we arrived. I've heard from the few people I know in Christchurch, all of whom are safe and well. Thank goodness.
I've been watching TVone news - they seem to have pretty steady and up-to-date news. You can also read all about it at http://www.stuff.co.nz/
I overheard a 7yr old Australian tell her Grandpa that "there was a meteor in New Zealand". Not quite, but almost!
Thankfully I'm here in TA, but some of Morgan's Family were due to fly out of Chch this morning to come up for the wedding - fingers crossed they can still get here in time.
